Egypt’s engineering sector had the products but not the pathway to reach Europe’s demanding markets.
Between 2018 and 2021, Innovety partnered with the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE), Consorzio ARCA (Italy), and Globally Cool (Netherlands) to bridge this gap.
We built a digital export gateway— a model to incentivize trade between Egypt and the EU.
It combined an interactive e‑catalogue, a technology repository, and an on‑ground trade matchmaking platform to connect production with distribution and guide companies on where to innovate. This positioned Egyptian companies with clear innovation strategy examples for export growth, drawing on our innovation consulting expertise.
The result: measurable increases in export revenues, stronger European market connections, enhanced product features, and a more competitive sector on the global stage.
Egypt’s engineering sector — spanning home appliances, automotive components, industrial machinery, batteries, and metal products — had significant production capacity but lacked export readiness, market intelligence, and EU compliance pathways.
While the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE) sought to position Egyptian manufacturers globally, companies faced limited visibility, fragmented innovation efforts, and insufficient understanding of European market requirements.
Without clear product–market insights or structured trade-enabling tools, Egyptian exporters risked falling behind more strategically positioned international competitors.
Key pain points:
Reimagining export readiness:
Innovety partnered with EECE, ARCA, and Globally Cool to help Egyptian engineering companies meet — and exceed — European market expectations.
We began with an in‑depth sector review.
From washing machines and batteries to industrial machinery and metal components, we mapped Egypt’s engineering products against EU technical requirements and market trends.
This exposed gaps in energy efficiency, design, and regulatory compliance — but also revealed opportunities for meaningful innovation.
Creating a living knowledge hub:
To ensure lasting transformation, we developed a living technology repository — an evolving knowledge hub capturing sector‑wide innovations, from production improvements to sustainability practices.
This became more than a database; it served as a roadmap for continuous product evolution.
It helped manufacturers adapt, upgrade, and stay competitive in global value chains.
Trade matchmaking at scale:
We created a digital gateway — a model to connect production with distribution and drive EU–Egypt trade in the engineering sector.
It combined a public-facing e‑catalogue featuring 116 Egyptian companies, a behind-the-scenes technology repository, and matchmaking tools to guide innovation based on EU buyer expectations.
Globally Cool supported the on-ground matchmaking process, curating business linkages and providing advisory support to help Egyptian manufacturers enter and compete in European markets.
Egypt’s engineering sector had strong products but needed a clear pathway into Europe’s markets. With Innovety, we built a true gateway—combining sector analysis, tailored product strategies, and both digital and on-ground matchmaking. The e-catalogue and technology repository not only linked 215 local exporters with EU buyers, it also guided companies on where to innovate. This collaboration has resulted in measurable export growth, stronger EU ties, and a more competitive industry.
