ShababEEK: Startup Resilience and Incubator Effectiveness in Fragile Contexts

The Context

ShababEEK, a UNDP flagship initiative, empowers youth through entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital inclusion. In Lebanon and Palestine, 32 youth-led startups were supported with training, mentorship, and seed funding. Amid severe crises, Innovety was tasked with evaluating startup resilience, adaptation, and incubator effectiveness to inform future youth-focused entrepreneurship programs in fragile settings.

Our Approach

We applied a mixed-methods design, combining surveys, interviews, and focus groups with 32 startups and 3 incubators. Tailored gender-sensitive, conflict-aware tools captured insights on resilience, pivoting, migration, and team dynamics. Collective workshops and consultations identified systemic barriers and ecosystem support gaps, generating practical recommendations for strengthening entrepreneurship in crisis contexts.

Our Impact
  • Generated evidence-based insights on the resilience, performance, and growth of 32 youth-led startups operating in crisis-affected contexts.
  • Identified context-specific capacity gaps in incubator models and support services for startups in Lebanon and Palestine.
  • Delivered actionable recommendations to UNDP for improving future entrepreneurship programs targeting youth in fragile environments.

E-Commerce Advisory and Market Access for Women-Led SMEs

  • Location: Egypt
The Context

Innovety contributed to the WEFI e-commerce for women entrepreneurs project in Egypt, tackling barriers that limit women-led SMEs’ access to markets and networks. The initiative focused on training a cohort of female e-commerce advisors to support 200 SMEs in expanding their reach, navigating virtual marketplaces, and enhancing digital sales capabilities.

Our Approach

We conducted market analysis to identify e-commerce gaps, then trained 20 national female e-commerce advisors. Tailored support plans and advisory services guided 200 SMEs in strengthening online presence, optimizing virtual marketplace use, and unlocking new growth opportunities.

  • Trained 20 female e-commerce advisors, equipping them to deliver tailored advisory support to women-led SMEs.
  • Supported 200 women-led SMEs with strategies to enhance their participation in export markets and e-commerce platforms.

100 Women Entrepreneurs’ Market Access and Cluster Development

  • Location: Egypt
The Context

In collaboration with UNIDO, UN Women, NCW, MoTI, and MSMEDA, this project boosted the economic participation of 100 women entrepreneurs in Egypt. Focusing on sectors like palm dates, MAPs, handicrafts, and ICT across six governorates, it aimed to overcome gender-specific barriers, expand market access, and strengthen competitiveness.

Our Approach

We delivered tailored market access and marketing strategies, supported by one-to-one coaching, profiling, and documentation. Innovety prepared participants for exhibitions, facilitated matchmaking, and helped women develop 6- and 12-month marketing plans, while training cluster leaders to ensure scale-up and sustainability.

Our Impact
  • Enabled 100 women entrepreneurs to access domestic and international markets through personalized marketing strategies and preparation for trade fairs.
  • Improved business visibility and competitiveness by developing detailed product descriptions, profiling documents, and market access plans.
  • Strengthened women-led clusters, coaching 10 cluster leaders on branding, strategy, and market positioning for long-term growth.

E-Commerce and Store Development for MSMEs

  • Location: UAE
The Context

Funded by the Khalifa Fund, this program strengthened the digital capabilities of 22 MSMEs in the UAE to accelerate their entry into e-commerce. It equipped participants with practical knowledge in marketing intelligence, business planning, logistics, operations, platform building, and digital marketing, enabling them to confidently create, manage, and scale their online businesses.

Our Approach

We designed a comprehensive program beginning with a 5-day intensive training on e-commerce concepts, self-assessment, and planning. Ten MSMEs advanced to hands-on onboarding with zVendo to launch fully functional stores, while 40 one-to-one coaching sessions supported store setup, digital marketing, and scalable growth strategies.

Our Impact
  • Enhanced the digital readiness of 22 MSMEs through comprehensive e-commerce training and self-assessment tools.
  • Built 10 fully functional online stores, enabling selected MSMEs to migrate their products and brand assets onto scalable platforms.
  • Delivered 40 personalized coaching sessions, strengthening MSME capabilities to manage and grow their e-commerce operations.

Baseera: Digital Transformation Strategy for Research and Policy Engagement

  • Location: Egypt
The Context

Baseera, Egypt’s leading center for public opinion research, needed a robust digital strategy to expand its online presence, improve stakeholder engagement, and streamline data collection. The goal was to enhance the visibility of its research outputs, engage policymakers, academics, and the public more effectively, and modernize data collection through digital platforms.

Our Approach

Conducted a full audit of Baseera’s existing digital presence and benchmarked against best practices in research dissemination. Developed a comprehensive digital strategy and content roadmap focused on multi-channel outreach through social media, newsletters, and media collaborations. Introduced enhanced data collection tools such as online surveys and mobile engagement solutions to improve the efficiency and quality of feedback.

Savoy Hotels: Digital Marketing and Customer Acquisition for Hospitality

The Context

Savoy Sharm El Sheikh sought to enhance its digital presence and attract more foreign travelers by increasing online bookings. The goal was to build the internal capacity of its cross-departmental team, enabling them to design and execute impactful digital marketing campaigns that drive sustainable revenue growth.

Our Approach

Delivered an intensive three-day training to 26 staff members across marketing, sales, management, and customer service. Supported the development of a comprehensive digital marketing campaign focused on targeting foreign travelers, improving online visibility, and converting digital traffic into bookings. Provided post-training support to monitor campaign performance and refine strategies for long-term success.

AUC: Digital Campaigns for Continuing Education Enrollment

The Context

The American University in Cairo (AUC) sought to increase awareness, visibility, and enrollment in its continuing education programs by reaching professionals and potential learners. The campaign aimed to generate high-quality leads through a targeted digital marketing strategy that would drive traffic to AUC’s website and build a strong enrollment pipeline.

Our Approach

Developed and implemented a comprehensive multi-channel digital marketing campaign, including social media advertising, search engine marketing (SEM), and display ads. Created customized landing pages and lead capture mechanisms to convert traffic into actionable leads. Continuously monitored and optimized the campaign’s performance to ensure maximum engagement and conversion rates.

Our Impact
  • Increased program visibility with 400,000+ impressions and 5,000+ visits to AUC’s continuing education website.
  • Generated over 100 qualified leads, strengthening AUC’s enrollment pipeline for continuing education programs.

Export Competitiveness and Innovation for Engineering MSMEs

The Context

In response to Egypt’s currency devaluation, this initiative aimed to strengthen the export competitiveness of Egyptian engineering MSMEs. It focused on enabling businesses to develop innovative, differentiated products through technology transfer, innovation, and product adaptation, while facilitating access to European markets via strategic matchmaking.

Our Approach

Conducted assessments of 100+ companies to analyze product features, value chains, and market positioning. Delivered capacity‑building workshops and developed 250+ business concepts. For 25 selected MSMEs, we designed market feasibility studies, commercialization roadmaps, and technology‑transfer strategies, while facilitating European partnerships through structured matchmaking and B2B linkages.

Inclusive Social Innovation for Egyptian and Syrian Youth

The Context

In collaboration with IOM, this initiative aimed to foster economic and social empowerment for both Syrian migrants and Egyptian host communities by promoting inclusive entrepreneurship. The program sought to build participants’ social innovation capacities and increase cohesion between communities through viable, community-led business solutions.

Our Approach

Innovety conducted a market needs analysis, recruited participants through a hybrid outreach strategy, and delivered hands-on training in social innovation fundamentals and project development. Participants received mentorship and support to refine their ideas into pitch-ready ventures, with a focus on empowering female-led initiatives and facilitating connections with accelerators and sponsors.

  • Built the social innovation capacity of 108 youth (53% female), empowering Syrian migrants and Egyptian community members to develop impactful, market‑aligned projects.

BESTMEDGRAPE: Valorisation of Wine By-Products into Bioactive Health Solutions

  • Location: Italy, France, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan
The Context

Under the EU-funded BESTMEDGRAPE project, Berytech in Lebanon sought to create startups by turning wine industry by-products into bioactive health products. Innovety was engaged to deliver a capacity-building program for 30 aspiring entrepreneurs.

Our Approach

Designed and delivered a program covering entrepreneurial fundamentals, business structuring, and internationalization. Provided hands-on coaching throughout, enabling participants to refine ideas and produce polished final pitch decks.

  • Created tech and knowledge transfer pathways by transforming grape by‑products into validated minimum viable products (MVPs) for bioactive health solutions.
